We would like to congratulate our Founder and President, Cheryl Perera who has been honoured by the BRICK Awards® for her work with OneChild in taking action against commercial sexual exploitation of children. (Go, Cheryl!)

The BRICK Awards®, dubbed by CNN as “the Oscars of Youth Service”, recognizes youth under the age of 25 who are agents of positive social change. OneChild is proud to receive $10,000 from the BRICK Awards® towards the construction of the rehab centre. Cheryl’s honour also means that OneChild has a shot at additional $15,000 awarded to the Golden BRICK recipient chosen by the public through an online voting system. This is where we need YOUR help!

Build A Rehab Centre

OneChild believes in creating safe environments for children escaping from Commercial Sexual Exploitation and facilitating their recovery and reintegration into society. Partnering with the PREDA Foundation, a local NGO in the Philippines, OneChild is working to raise funds to build a residential home for rescued children complete with a therapeutic recovery program that includes emotional expression therapy, family therapy counseling, and formal and non-formal education. Such a program is based on affirmation, empowerment, and healing, and develops the child’s self-esteem.
